Developing a platform for direct transactions between electricity producers and consumers.
AI in electricity trading! Obtained business approval from the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy as a P2P electricity trading platform.
A startup company originating from the University of Tokyo, with the mission of "realizing the democratization of energy," has developed a platform equipped with a system that allows "power producers" to directly sell electricity to "power consumers." Traditionally, electricity was supplied to businesses and factories through "electricity retail companies" (such as Tokyo Electric Power Company, Chubu Electric Power Company, Kyushu Electric Power Company), which involved manual processes for "demand-supply adjustments," "trading in wholesale markets," and "submitting planned values to transmission companies." In this case, the system has changed to allow direct transactions between power consumers, such as businesses and factories, and suppliers like fossil fuel sources, wholesale electricity companies, and JEPX, without going through electricity retail companies. As a result, a mechanism was established where AI can perform tasks such as "demand-supply adjustments," which were previously done manually by electricity retailers, leading to significant reductions in basic fees.
